SCS (Skanska-Costain-Strabag JV) together with the Design House JV (Arup-TYPSA-Strabag), has won the Year in Infrastructure 2018 Awards.
These awards are an integral part of the Year in Infrastructure Conference, which brings together infrastructure professionals and members of the media from around the globe to share innovative practices in infrastructure projects.The Awards is an exciting and well-regarded global competition that honours the extraordinary work in digital civil engineering for advancing infrastructure design, construction, and operations throughout the world.
High Speed 2 (HS2) is the new High Speed Rail Network running between London in the South and Manchester and Leeds to the North. Phase 1 involves the route between London and Birmingham with approximately 200 km of new high-speed rail being laid. The 2 Main Works Civils lots (estimated price circa 2 billion) start from Euston Station in London. S1 includes two 9 km twin bored tunnels between the new HS2 stations, Euston and Old Oak Common. S2 continues from Old Oak Common with 15 km of twin bored tunnels to West Ruislip where there is approximately 5 km of open route before transitioning into C1 lot.
Since 2004, the Awards program, by the software provider Bentley, has recognised more than 3,000 of the world’s most outstanding infrastructure projects. Twelve independent jury panels of distinguished industry experts selected the 57 finalists from 420 nominations submitted by more than 340 user organizations around the world.
During the conference, held October 15-18 in London, representatives from Costain and TYPSA presented the project in the category “Innovation in Rail and Transit” along with the other finalists, two high speed railway projects from Italy and China.
At the Year in Infrastructure 2018 Awards gala and ceremony the team received the award that recognises the “going digital” and innovation of the BIM development of the project.
