Key facts

Beneficiary population: 1.6 million inhabitants in the Greater San José Metropolitan Area, Liberia, Limón, Puntarenas, San Ramón, El Pasito de Alajuela, San Isidro and Guácimo.

Objective: Reduce non-revenue water by 17% and optimise energy efficiency by 7.5%.

Creation of management, institutional, commercial, and technical capacities to implement the project sustainably and autonomously.

Services

Technical consulting project. Implementation and execution of an Action Plan: conceptual design of drinking water distribution networks to make them more water and energy efficient.

Formulation of technical and management strategies for water supply (macro-measurement, sectorisation, system pressure control, leak detection and repair, pipe replacement, customer and infrastructure cadastre, commercial management, micro-measurement, network operational control systems, SCADA and geographic information systems, organisational structure, communication and dissemination).

Institutional support for the project; AyA staff training in technical, commercial and institutional aspects of reducing unaccounted-for water and optimising energy efficiency; and technical assistance to carry out user awareness campaigns.
