TYPSA continues developing the RANC-EE project to reduce unmetered water in Costa Rica

At the beginning of July, the German bank KfW and the Central American BCIE, visited Costa Rica, to follow up on the projects financed by both entities for the Costa Rica Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA). The RANC-EE Project (Reduction of unmetered water and energy efficiency optimisation), carried out by TYPSA as leader of the Escazú Water Consortium, is one of such projects.

The Consortium, as in previous years, participated in this mission, with Eugenio Paez, director of the Division of Urban Networks and Treatments on behalf of TYPSA, and Ana Cordova together with Markus Daechert representing GOPA Infra.

Among the most relevant points on the agenda were the closure of pending agreements, as well as accelerating the process of extending the consultancy contract, which expires in July 2024. All parties involved expressed their approval of this extension, which is expected to be signed before the end of July for an additional period of two and a half years, the maximum allowed by Costa Rican legislation.

The mission concluded, for the companies, with a presentation to the financing banks at the Consortium´s offices, where the progress of the consultancy work carried out during the first half of 2024. Additionally, a visit was made to the sites implementing pressure-regulating valves and control equipment, an essential component of the pressure management project designed by the Consortium, aimed at reducing physical losses and network breakages caused by high pressure during the night.

This visit reaffirms the commitment of the Aguas de Escazú Consortium to the Project’s objectives and the recognition from the client and financing banks.
