TYPSA strengthens its position in Sweden with a new contract for the Stockholm metro extension

The TYPSA/Ramboll consortium has won two of the three contracts to provide preliminary and detailed design for the 8 kilometre-long underground metro yellow line from Fridhemsplan to Älvsjö, in the Stockholm area.

The yellow metro line is part of the national transport infrastructure development plan in Sweden, funded by the Swedish government and the municipalities in Stockholm. The metro extension project will leverage the combined expertise and experience of both companies in stations, tunnel boring machines (TBM), underground structures, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering (MEP).

The new metro line will have six stations and will run through bedrock and under an inlet of the lake Mälaren. The two contracts will start in autumn 2024 and continue until completion of the yellow metro line.

“We are proud to continue our contribution to the sustainable growth and the urban development of Stockholm. We will bring our international experience and team of world-class TBM specialists to support Stockholm to successful completion of the yellow line project”, declares Fredrik Lilliesköld, Country director TYPSA in Sweden.

TYPSA and Ramboll as equal partners in the consortium have earlier independently provided services and technical expertise to the region of Stockholm to support the extension of the blue, green, red and yellow metro lines.
