MEDITERRANEAN CORRIDOR. ANTEQUERA-GRANADA-ALMERÍA SECTION

Key facts

Section belonging to the Basic Railway Network of the Trans-European Transport Network, for passengers and goods, through the Mediterranean Coastal Corridor, which connects Algeciras to the French border. There are two subsections, the 125.7 km long high-speed subsection Antequera-Granada and the standard 181 km long Granada-Almería.

The section does not currently have the adequate infrastructure to meet the characteristics required to form part of the Basic Network or the necessary links to allow the continuity of freight and passenger traffic.

The final objective is to study the necessary actions in the Antequera-Granada-Almería corridor and in the links with the network to allow the creation of a standard-gauge freight and passenger route through this section.

There are different characteristics in the different sections, so the study has been divided into three individual informative studies, to differentiate the actions to be carried out in each of them, in addition to a single feasibility study.
