The Spanish Institution of Civil Engineers in Madrid held the 17th edition of its annual “Caminos Madrid” awards, corresponding to the year 2024. The gala took place on February 20th 2025, at the Príncipe Pio Grand Theatre, at which the mayor of Madrid, as well as senior officials from the City Council itself, the Community of Madrid and the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility were present. These awards highlight the work of civil engineers in economic and social development, as well as projects that modernise and make the city of Madrid and its community more sustainable.
The president of TYPSA, Pablo Bueno Tomás, received the 2024 “Outstanding Engineer” award for his professional career at the helm of TYPSA, a leading consultancy firm in Spain and one of the most prestigious in the world, with emblematic projects in more than 50 countries.
At the award ceremony, Pablo’s professional career was highlighted, reviewing his contribution to the development and recognition of Spanish engineering, as president of FIDIC, vice-president of EFCA, president of Tecniberia, president of Fidex and member of the Governing Board of the Institute of Civil Engineers, among others. His dedication to the growth of TYPSA, where he has held the presidency since 2014, was also highlighted. In 2015, he was awarded with the Institute´s Medal of Honor and the award for the best European CEO by the Engineering and Consulting Association of the United Kingdom.
In his words of thanks, Pablo shared the award with the nearly 4,000 people who work in the TYPSA Group and highlighted the international nature of the group, which is working on civil engineering, architecture and energy projects on five continents. Video of the award ceremony.

In addition, the “Best Public Work of 2024” category recognition was awarded to the Remodelling of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, an award in which TYPSA participates as author of the architectural detailed design. The remodelling of this stadium is one of the most innovative engineering and construction projects in the world, carried out while respecting its original 75-year-old structure. To receive the award, TYPSA was represented by Salvador Fernández Fenollera, civil engineer and Head of Cities at TYPSA.
