Due to the serious damage suffered by infrastructures in the Community of Valencia as a result of the flooding (DANA) in October 2024, the TYPSA Group offered support to the competent authorities by providing technical assistance for emergency actions and for the assessment and repair of the damage occurred.
Among the actions in which TYPSA is participating, we can highlight the following:
- Technical assistance for the definition of actions, control and surveillance of the works, and coordination of safety and health in the execution phase of the emergency repair works for the A-7 viaduct over the Gallego ravine, in Quart de Poblet. This viaduct, located on the Valencia ring road, collapsed during the flood and, since it is key to road transport on the Mediterranean axis, emergency work has been launched, consisting of a temporary detour of both roads, and then rebuilding the destroyed bridge. Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
- Replacement of security and study elements and measures to guarantee the stability of the Buseo dam in the municipality of Chera. The Buseo dam, which TYPSA is in charge of exploiting, has had its stability compromised as a result of heavy rains, during which the spillway was insufficient to evacuate the inflow, causing the spill by coronation. Emergency works are intended to repair the damage caused and to restore lost stability. Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Livestock and Fisheries of the Valencian Government.

- Repair of the sanitation and wastewater treatment facilities in the Pinedo system. The flood caused by the Poyo ravine has caused the almost complete ruin of the L’Horta Sud treatment system, which discharges its wastewater into the Pinedo treatment plant. This work will unclog the collectors obstructed by the mud, repair the damaged ones, rebuild the Picanya pumping station, and the Catarroja treatment plant. Water Sanitation Authority (EPSAR).
- Inventory and evaluation of the damage caused in various municipalities. In addition to the catastrophic destruction to large infrastructures, there is widespread damage to smaller structures and this action deals with cataloguing and evaluating them for subsequent repair. Valencia Local Council.

- Construction management of the rehabilitation of the buildings and the urban development of Metrovalencia´s Southern Valencia railway complex affected by the overflow of the Poyo ravine, which completely wiped out the facilities, destroying the main office building, the metro control centre, the operations building, the security booth, the workshops, the service building and other annexes. This action aims to put them back into service and to raise critical areas as much as possible. Valencian Government Railways.
- Evaluation of the damage caused by the flood in a 55,361 m² industrial logistic warehouse. Reports on architecture, installations and structures are being drafted to evaluate and establish a strategy for tendering repairs, prioritising the work to be carried out to make the warehouse operational as soon as possible. ELOF Valencia One, S.L.
- Technical assistance for the definition, control and surveillance, and coordination of health and safety for the reconstruction, repair and replacement works of damaged functional elements on roads in sectors V3, V5 and V8. At various points on the A7 and A38 roadways, the flooding caused severe damage and rose above the road level, making them impassable. Given that these are roads of great importance for mobility in the area, solutions must be studied to prevent future isolation in similar circumstances and that no further damage is caused. Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.

- Management of the restoration works for seven damaged culverts, in the municipality of Xiva. The scope involves a study of the type of repair to be carried out on two walkways and a bridge within the urban area and on four bridges on various roads within this municipality and of carrying out the management of the restoration works. Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory of the Valencian Government.
- Supervision and technical management of the service for the removal of solid and bulky waste and plant debris in Lago de l’Albufera and its canals. The area of waste measured in this natural space is 170,000 m², with an estimated volume of 85,000 m³. The waste found is mainly reeds and plastics of all kinds, drums of various chemical and fuel products, tires of various sizes, planks, butane cylinders, furniture and appliances. The objective here is to collect, transfer and deliver solid waste and plant debris to an authorised handler. Valencia City Council.

- Work management of the replacement of three culverts in the municipality of Sot de Chera, downstream of the Buseo reservoir, where the flood caused great destruction, dragging two bridges and a walkway. Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory of the Valencian Government.
- Management of the repair works for the affected port facilities and the restoration of depths in the port of Cullera. This is a river port located at the mouth of the Xùquer River, which received the entire flow from this canal, mainly supplied by the Magro River. The work consists of the removal of floating elements, dredging the canal and the mouth, repairing the fishing docks and offices, repairing roads on both banks and the slope of the right bank with a breakwater. Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory of the Valencian Government.

- Control and surveillance of works to repair damage and restore the public hydraulic domain, in riverbeds, riverbanks and associated areas, caused by floods in the area of the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation, in the provinces of Castellón and Teruel. The removal of trawls, silvicultural treatment of riverine vegetation, elimination of invasive exotic plant species, bioengineering actions and plantations must be carried out. Jucar Hydrographic Confederation.
- Emergency works to monitor the quality of inland waters to evaluate the condition caused by floods, as a complementary follow-up to that usually carried out by the Jucar Confederation. Surface waters will analyse pesticides, metals, compounds related to industrial activities, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, pharmaceutical products, phthalates and plasticisers alternative to phthalates. Pharmaceutical products, phthalates and plasticisers alternative to phthalates will be tested in groundwater. Jucar Hydrographic Confederation.
- Projects for the reconstruction of the Ninos and Almassereta walkways, in Pincaya, and the walkway on Carrer Convent, in Paiporta, between 60 and 80 m in length, on the Rambla del Poyo (MC2). These are three fundamental structures to recover the connectivity of the area and allow cycling and pedestrian mobility on the path and will be designed with a geometry adapted to the hydrodynamic thrusts of a possible new flood and minimum occupancy of the riverbed. Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
