TYPSA present at the BIMFRA Summit 2024

The BIMFRA SUMMIT 2024 took place in June at the Neptune palace, in Madrid. Organised by Autodesk, the event focused on the engineering designs and civil engineering works developed under the BIM methodology with Autodesk Civil3D software.

The purpose of the event is to bring together the largest number of BIM experts and users to encourage collaboration and idea-sharing, together with boosting the design and maintenance of infrastructures in the most efficient and sustainable way. Professionals attended from the AECO sector (architecture, engineering, construction and operation) from the disciplines of roads, ports, airports, railways and energy and water infrastructures.

During the event, particularly innovative works of Digital Engineering and BIM were presented such as the practical and real application of monitoring of works of railway tunnels, applications of the IFC 4.3 scheme for smart building in a metro project, innovation in renewable energies, innovation in desalination, integration of BIM-GIS in road projects, BIM coordination in WWTP, management of considerable volumes of data in large civil engineering designs, digital transformation of ADIF, application and best practices of the Dynamo application for linear infrastructure projects, and BIM as an enabler of sustainable urban infrastructures.

Lara López presenting her paper

TYPSA gave the presentation titled ‘Managing large volumes of information within the framework of the project HS2 Sector C2-C3’, represented by Lara López, from the BIM section of Madrid, in which she brilliantly presented the complexity of managing large amounts of data in the context of a project with such international impact as that of HS2. In addition, I/she? was invited to participate as a panelist in the round table on ‘‘Digital transformation in water management: Current circumstances and future perspectives’, as a BIM expert in water engineering.

Mª Eugenia Perea taking part in the round table discussion

In this round table, ideas, experiences and procedures were shared, as well as the current and future perspective of water management in the water resource deficit situation currently experienced in Spain. Analyses were done of how to best to manage these resources and how to improve efficiency in the management of information, highlighting data governance and understanding the importance of business intelligence application in the control of data from its origin, during its development and in the operation and maintenance.

In general, in the round tables and networking events, the difficulty of coordinating teams, data and software was highlighted. The need for adaptation and versatility required by the digital transformation of our sector was discussed in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency, with the economic impact that entails at the end of an infrastructure lifespan.
